8 Interesting Things About Trisha

Look Into My EyesUp until this point, this portfolio website has been strictly all-business. By now you know that I’m a professional business woman with experience and know-how. Now you get to learn a bit about the personal side to Trisha Bartle. Below are the eight most interesting things about me, in no particular order:

1. My house burnt down when I was six - on the last day of kindergarten. It didn’t completely burn down to the ground, but burnt enough that we couldn’t live there anymore. While most people would see that as a tragedy, I think my life wouldn’t be as great or special now if that didn’t happen. It shaped my future. It may sound sappy, but it’s true.

2. I wrote my first novel when I was in fourth grade. It started out as a joint project between me and my friend Shawna. We wanted to write an entire book in Pig Latin. After a few pages, and Shawna losing interesting, I continued to write the book - in plain ol’ English - myself. It was a children’s chapter book and it wasn’t half bad.

3. When I was in elementary school, I thought it would be really cool to wear glasses. I went to an eye doctor and lied throughout the exam, saying I couldn’t see when I really had perfect vision. I ended up with glasses, but lost them shortly afterward. The irony? I now NEED glasses to see. No more pretend.

4. I’ve been cutting my own hair for the past decade. I had a bad experience when I was fifteen. For some strange reason, I wanted the Rachel (shudder). It turned out terribly. I never went to a salon again.

5. Here’s a great example of how I wasn’t like normal kids: The summer after high school graduation, I attended business camp. It was a week-long camp called Minnesota Business Venture. We learned about the stock market, and even pitched a business plan to real bankers. Want to know the kicker? I actually got an ulcer while I was there. How fitting. It was still a lot of fun.

6. I have an unhealthy obsession with fruit snacks. More specifically, I love Fruit by the Foot, Fruit Roll-Ups, and Gushers. I really can’t get enough.

7. I love to sew my own clothing and accessories. Most often, I make skirts and purses.

8. Although I always wanted to be a writer, I was scared off because of the ’starving artist’ mentality that hasn’t yet died. So, I got a different degree as more of a safety. I have a degree in Programming and Game Development. In other words, a video game degree. It’s funny that I picked that as my practical education experience.

There! Now you know all sorts of interesting and personal things about me. See! I’m not just some professional, business machine.
